Not perfect yet

I believe bookshelf is for now the best ereader on iPhone/iPod touch, but alas, it is far from bug free. My biggest concern is that the app breaks the text into manageable chunks (this is good), but when scrolling from the end of a chunk to the next one, youll find yourself in the middle of the next chunk instead of at the start. The server application, which is needed to upload your ebooks, could also do with some refinements. Nevertheless, the app shows great potential, and with a bit of work and some additional formats (lrf? pdf?), this could become a must.

Best reader on any platform

Ive searched for a good reading tool for years on ppc and mobiles. This one has all the features I was waiting for. Autoprogress, easy to upload books, landscape reading. Best app available!

Just not working

Not able to read .chm files as claimes. Simply not working.

really bad App!!!

many crashs, bad file suport, bad desktop app, bad design. I hated!! can I my money back?

Great App but upgrade deletes all books from iphone

So dont upgrade if youre on the road and want to keep reading! I hope this issue gets resolved, since its a pain in the *ss, but i dont know if its the developers fault or apples.

still no umlaut characters in PDFs

As the title says - umlaut characters in PDF files are still displayed as double-byte sequence (for example: sharp-s "ß" as "ß"). Changing the text encoding setting (Ive tried UTF-8, Windows Latin-1, ISO-8859-1 Latin) does not seem to change anything... Id give four to five starts without this bug, but only two with respect to this annoying behaviour.

Dont buy this crap

The App DONT support the rtf. and doc. formats despite the fact that they advertise that it could. All you get is a pile of source code. I WANT MY FREAKING MONEY BACK !!!

Excellent

Well done app. I have lots of ebooks that are in the palm PDA form. With this application I now have them on my itouch.

Best of breed

This really is a must have for anyone enthusiastic about reading. Other readers out there are tied to proprietary databases that actually charge you to access works long out of copyright. Not only does Bookshelf allow you to upload your own ebooks from sites such as the Project Gutenberg collection, but it even provides a free interface to libraries to freely download from. Literature should be free and accessible--BookShelf does just that. Its a clean interface and very natural to use. Ive tried so many of these ereaders and BookShelf is the only application Ive found that lets me forget about the device and get lost in the story. Great product!

A great addition to my software

I LOVE this app! I can read all the books I had previously downloaded for my Palm Pilot long, long ago. Nice to not have to buy them all over again. Quite user friendly and it looks like there is an upgrade plan which makes me very happy.

Needs debugging

Well, the server part of the app is amazing. Client needs debugging. But idea deserves a 5/5. Plus author promised to fix all the bugs!

Excellent App. - best of the eBook lot so far.

This is an excellent App. I try many of the e-Book Reader on App Store, this is the best: Simple, Clean and Intuitive. - in fewer word I love it. BookShelf Server is really amazing - you can store your books on device. Some new Features will be helpful (I thought). - Search with in the books. - Global book mark. - Next/Back Navigation should take to next file or chapter. - Delete Books should be under setting. Or at least should have another level of confirmation. - On HTML books, at least inline CSS should not be cleaned out. Over all Excellent. Im sure worth investing $$ and I believe - over the time it is going to be one of the great eBook reader App. Oh! By the way - Excellent customer support too.

EXCELLENT! - Best I have found, by far

Id give it a 5 star, but nothing is perfect. This comes close, though. ;) Well worth the $$$ Suggestion: Add capabilty for horizontal reading of books.

Finally! Thank you.

Fantastic program. I have been patiently waiting for an app like to this to complete my iPod Touch as the perfect device. Couple of features I would like to see. First, an option to strip CR and or LF from documents and second, word wrap. Keep up the great work.

Great for free books

Reading all the reviews and buying the product, I was very excited to read my first book on it. I downloaded some free classics from Gutenberg and loved the interface and readability. The ad for it says it will read almost any format, not just Gutenberg txt and html. When I tried buying books from fictionwise, who have limited formats, I found this reader doesnt read many of the formats available from the pay sites. Im hoping the authors of the program address this issue soon. So far Im using ereader to read my purchased books on, which is not as nice as this 10 dolllar app, but it works all the time, and ereader is FREE.

Works great!

This has been exactly what I was looking for in an eBook reader. Ive been using it a few months now and it has consistently worked as it is meant to. Im also impressed by the regular tweaks and updates the product has received. Id recommend this to anyone looking to read books on their iPhone/iPod.

Pretty good

Has bookmarks and can navigate large files. Keep the updates coming.

Latest version cant change font size for Chinese characters

The release on Oct 5, 2008 cannot change font size for Chinese characters anymore. Please note.

It should be free

I wanted and app that can read MobiPocket books so I paid 10$ for this app that has less features than the free eReader and Stanza. What a mistake! It is the same as the lite version except there is no ad at the top. Dont waste your money here. Get eReader or Stanza for free and you have more important functions like search and adding notes/highlights.

Great replacement for AvantGo

I used to use Avantgo on the Palm. Now with the touch and this Bookshelf, I wont be looking back! And at $5.99 during March, this is even greater!
