I bought this app and had a lot of hope. Although relatively expensive, it is overall a good app. However, I hope the developer is coming up with updates because I find the navigation interface for pdb files not that intuitive, and opening links do not work sometimes (also touching the screen somtimes brings down the menus, sometimes opens links). Hope to see updates and improvement very soon to make that app worth the $10 !

I liked this app before and thanks to the recent update I now LOVE it. All the links now work and its easy to scroll through any book. Its great being able to add my own personal files, too. Thank you, thank you, thank you for an app well made. ... A few months ago I tired to upload a PDF file and it didnt work. I tried it again today and it worked!! The files was a little messed up, but its readable. I looked on the Bookshelf website and they have it as a high priority to get the PDFs fixed up and lookin smart. You guys are on the ball! Thanks again for a great app! (and to think I was going to download some silly PDF reader when Bookshelf does it all!!)

No book reader on any mobile platform van beat this app! Used religiously back in the good old open source days. Loading books has been made substantially easier! Bravo!

Love this app, especially with the latest update. This is the application that prompted me to get a Touch.

I cant connect and synchronize even if I followed the instruction from Bookshelf web site. In 2010, we should be able to connect and synchronize. Period. Please test your application!

I wanted an ereader which would handle Mobi format, in particular, since I already have a lotof books in this format. It handles formatting well and the scroll feature is great.The main feature missing, for me, is search -but that is promised for an upcoming release.Desktop app is simple but does the job.

WOW, absolute waste of money. I purchased this app to read CHM and PDF files on the iPad, but it simply does not work! The same files that I can open in GoodReader, iAnnotate or other PDF readers do not open in Bookshelf. and the same CHM files which can be opened using CHMate on the iPhone do not open in Bookshelf either. Please do not waste your money. There are way better apps out there.

What a phenomenal waste of money! Nothing about this app works... NOT WORTH IT!

Stay away, I paid for it and I wish I didnt. Much better ones for free. Updates almost non existent, developers dont want to work on it. Try the free ones, are better and constantly updated. Dont waste your money.

Beware: Too complicated to transfer files from computer. Too expensive and not user friendly! Highly non-recommendable!

I have found that this is one of the better ebook apps out there. I have tried multiple types and this is the one I rate better then the others.

The primary reason I bought this App was to be able to download my own ebooks in different formats. Unfortunately I am not able to access the folders where the books are located. Initially, the BookShelf finds the ‘Near-by Shelfs’ and correctly displays the folder names, but when trying to open the folders, I am getting the following error ( I tried several setting as suggested in ShelfServer help): Failed refreshing details Cannot decode rawdata you may need to change or unset the display hostname option in your shelfserver settings Host: Http:.... Please, please fix this problem. Other than that the application is great ------------------- I would like to corect my yesterdays ratings and I am giving this App 5 stars. I am very happy with this Application. The Dropbox can be used instead of the ShelfServer to download books. Great Application. Thank you.

Even though there were free book readers out there I purchased this one so that I could copy my own content to the device. The latest update has made it so buggy and unusable I have since moved to Stanza. Sorry to say that with Stanzas improvements it is now the best reader out there.

Its a good ereader but it has seriously slid behind other readers which are offered for free. No PDF support. Their web site appears to be abandoned as there hasnt been any updates for years and its full of spam. Definitely not worth the money any more.

Ive posted a number of very negative reviews of Tomes as the last few updates made it unusable on my last two iPod touches. Sadly, because I used to love this app. I just bought an iPad2 and when I noticed that Tomes had transferred without any books, on a whim I went to Baen books and downloaded some that constantly crashed on my latest gen iPod touch - they ran perfectly! Im considering wiping my iPod and reinstalling and seeing if that does anything. If they actually fixed it, posting the need to reinstall might have been nice. Currently, its two most annoying problems are linked - its the only reader I have that requires you to tap the screen which is incredibly annoying - however, when you do so, about one in four times it jumps to the next chapter, missing the remaining part of this one. Worse, if you jump back, you still cant read the missing part, it continues to jump to the next chapter. My fingers are crossed - this was a great app once, perhaps it can be again. Now, if they can only fix the requirement to tap at page breaks. Other readers dont make you do this, why must Tomes?

Disapponting I cant believe I paid for this crappy app - it wouldnt even bring in a single book. Junk dont waste your $ on it. Gets 1 * because thats the lowest I could rate

現時点で、フォルダごと転送できる唯一の「横書き」読書アプリ。 英語ファイルは問題ないが、日本語ファイル転送・閲覧時に、まだ問題が残る。 解決した件に関しての覚書。 ・エラーが出ないのに転送されてないファイルがある。 → パソコン側のShelfServerのSettings→Convert to PluckerをNONEにすると転送出来る。 ・ファイルを開くと、中身が(null)と書いてあるだけ。 → その状態で設定(左下の歯車アイコン)を押して、Mark Unreadすると大抵読める。

iPhoneのほかに、パソコンが使えて、パソコン版の「shelf server」という アプリが使えれば、ネットブラウザで読めるものならなんでも、iPhoneで読めます。 ｈｔｍｌでイラストが入っているものも「shelf server」の「instant book」機能を 使ってちゃんとiPhoneに合ったサイズで表示してくれます。 日本語の青空文庫は、ルビが括弧に入って表示されますが、ちゃんと読めます(ただし横書き）。 Baen社のフリーライブラリもプリセットされていて、すぐにダウンロード出来ます。 英語の電子書籍でフリーのものをダウンロードして読むのにお勧めです。
